Some students and their families also came to the Artescape workshop, held in conjunction with The Big Draw, and helped make even more dolls houses for the installation. It was fantastic to see all the hard work and effort pay off, and to see the dolls houses up on the wall!
The ‘Giant Dolls House Project’ is an initiative of architect Catja de Haas who has developed an interest in dolls houses as a way to communicate ideas about the home and community. It was a project which made all the participants think about the importance of home. The project also helped raise money for the homeless charity Shelter, a worthy cause, and a charity which helps provide shelter and housing for those most in need of a home.
The Art department would like to thank all those students and families who took part in the project and made a dolls house - the standard of making was very high and your efforts were much appreciated!
