Students who enter the Sixth form to study A-Level Art and Design have the opportunity to take part in a course of life drawing sessions at the beginning of the year. The life drawing sessions are useful for improving observational drawing skills and for learning new techniques which can be used to support coursework. Life drawing classes should enable the students to produce good quality drawings which are essential for building a portfolio for submission to University and Foundation art courses.

Artist, Rebecca Molloy was invited to lead two life drawing workshops in the school last year. The focus of the workshop sessions was to begin looking at the figure differently within the space, but to also gain an understanding of the correct proportions of the body. Techniques involved drawing with different media and overlapping imagery to create a sense of movement.

Above is a painting by Rebecca; she has used a surface of perspex to paint a face using bright acrylic paints built up in many layers. You can find out more about her work on her website here:  http://www.rebeccamolloy.com/
