Coursework
This contributes 60% to your overall A2 grade and 30% to your overall A Level grade so work hard! Coursework themes are chosen by yourself following in-depth teacher tutorials and peer dialogue. Coursework themes will differ from student to student and should be chosen to complement your skill set and interests; however exam themes will be set and will be the same for all endorsements. A written personal study is compulsory in your A2 year and should be written in response to your developing art practice with reference made to artists and contextual influences. The format of this is up to you; however you should be aware that marks will be awarded for creativity and intellectual engagement with your subject matter. A large proportion of the academic year will be dedicated to the development of your coursework project and outcome/s will be generated in response.
All coursework should be handed into your teacher by the 2end of Januray. You will need to submit a hand-in sheet with this work.

Exam
This contributes 40% to your overall A2 grade and 20 % to your overall A Level grade, so again, work hard! Exam themes are externally set by Edexcel and an examination paper is generated and given to you in February. You will have a period of 8-12 weeks to prepare a body of work in response to the set theme; this will depend on term times and exam dates. You will be expected to work during your holidays to maximise your time allocated for developing your project. Your timed examination will last for 12 hours at A2 level and you will be expected to produce an outcome/s in response to your artistic journey that exhibits skill and intent. Exam 2015: Last year's A2 exam theme was 'Flaws, Imperfections, Ideals and Compromises'. You can visit the Pinterest boards and review last year's timeline for insight into exam content. However, remember the theme will be different this year! A2 Level Art Exam 2015 timeline A2 Level Photography Exam 2015 timeline Key dates: TBC |
