Drawing for Observation
Students begin with a foundation course on the formal elements of drawing. They will learn the meanings of line, shape, proportion, mark-making, tone and form, and be able to apply the formal elements in drawing everyday objects. They will develop contextual research skills through studying the work of Karl Blossfeldt and Ernst Haeckel. Exploring the theme of natural form through observational drawing, painting, and mono printing students will build a portfolio of work centered on the understanding and application of the formal elements.
