Artescape are sending invitations to schools across London and other networks, hopefully amassing 100’s of shoebox houses and St. Augustine's Priory hope to contribute towards the project by asking students to make shoe-box dolls houses before the event takes place. The doll’s house is an initiative of architect Catja de Haas who has developed an interest in dolls’ houses as a way to communicate ideas about the home and community.
The project highlights the importance of a home for all and therefore we are asking for a contribution of £1 from each participant for the housing charity Shelter, to be collected by Miss Grundon.
Please make your dolls house out of one or more shoe boxes and decorate as you wish! The deadline for the shoe-box dolls houses to be delivered to the art department is the 13th of October, to allow time to get them to the gallery space in Battersea. The opening of this installation to the public will be October 15th.
Participating students and their parents are welcome to attend the Big Draw event on the 18th of October at the TESTBED 1 space in Battersea, 10-12pm and 2-4pm to see their work displayed and to participate in the Artescape - Big Draw workshop. For more information about this opportunity, please speak to Miss Grundon in the Art Department, or contact firstname.lastname@example.org
